What is your metabolism? Your metabolism is the process of breaking down and rebuilding cells in the body. It takes energy to rebuild cells and to break them down. Energy is measured in calorie.

In layman’s terms it’s how many calories you burn at rest. The more calories you burn at rest the more you can eat or the more weight you will lose. Example: If your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) is 1500 calories and you walk 5 miles, so let’s say you burn off an additional 500 calories your total caloric expenditure for the day is 2000 calories. You eat 1500 calories a day, so over a 7 day period you will have burned off 3500 more calories then what you took in.

What is that significance of that number? There are 3500 calories in 1 pound of fat. So in that one week you burned off a pound of fat. Imagine your RMR is now 1600 calories. In that same 7 day period, instead of just burning 14000 calories, you will now be burning, 14700 calories a week. An additional 700 calories a week may not sound like much, but it’s an additional 7 miles you didn’t have to walk. It’s an additional muffin you could eat without gaining weight an additional side dish and then some, some chocolate, whatever you want that’s about 700 calories. That 700 calories is the small picture. Look at the big picture, 36,400 additional calories you will burn in one year. That’s 10 POUNDS!!!

Exercise America will train your body in a fashion to increase your metabolic rate. The program requires a group of 2 to 3 individuals who seek a higher metabolism.
